  • What role do you believe facing trauma plays in personal growth?

    I believe facing trauma is not just part of personal growth, it’s the foundation of it. Over half of adults in the U.S. have experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE), which are traumatic events that shape how we see ourselves and the world. In “Illuminate Me: Poetry for Life’s Uncertainties”, I explore the process of confronting those internal wounds through poetry using language to reclaim identity, truth, and strength.

    Healing begins when we stop avoiding the parts of our story that bind us. While trauma may not be our fault, healing is our responsibility. We can’t blame our pain for our lack of healing; that becomes a cycle that keeps us veiled from our potential. I’ve seen today’s world shift closer toward self-reflection through removing the stigmas around mental health, abuse, trauma, and the messy process of healing. This book is my contribution to that shift. It’s a poetic journey through resilience, reflection, and rest—three elements I believe are essential for not just surviving trauma, but transforming because of it.

    I spent about 2 years writing, compiling, designing, and publishing this book of poetry and prose.

  • Why am I seeing two print versions of this book?

    There are two editions of this book of poetry. The first edition, titled “Illuminate Me”, was released in both print and eBook formats. The second edition, titled “Illuminate Me: Poetry for Life’s Uncertainties”, is available exclusively in print. Instead of writing a shorter sequel, this updated edition features over 25 new poems, a redesigned cover, and a reimagined ending that expands on the book’s central themes.
